Shilah has been working within the teaching industry for the past 12 years. Inspired by her mother late Great-Grandmother Ernestine Phillips Shilah takes her teaching very seriously. She knows what it is like to have that one moment in time and perform at the highest level at her best. Shilah won Miss Texas in her first try becoming the first black Miss Texas and setting records in pageant history. Shilah went on to star in the Miss America MTV series Pageant School, and won preliminary talent, overall CMT's viewer's choice talent and took 1st runner up at Miss America, a record that has not been beaten in her lifetime. As a former student of Olympic Gold Medalist and mentee of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Danny Seraphine (of Chicago) Shilah understands that mental toughness is a must for success.
